Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer assures consistent quality of production by developing and reinforcing good manufacturing practice systems, including validating processes and providing documentation. This individual drives continuous improvements throughout the facility through disciplined problem-solving techniques. Will be involved with Prime customer specification review, internal auditing, corrective/preventive actions and Lean Production Practices. Will provide strong QA leadership on the production floor and participate in production meetings.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

 Supports key production processes using data analytics to determine process current state, improved capabilities, and facilitates/supports production team improvements.

 Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for key processes (Chem Processing (CP), Non-destructive Testing (NDT), Coatings, Special Processes (e.g. 3-M) throughout the facility.

 Supports other key processes within the organization (Receiving, Receiving Inspection, Equipment, Calibration, Organic Coatings, Finishing, Packing, etc.)

 Assists in directing, mentoring, coaching and motivating Inspection personnel.

 Is capable of performing all Inspector 3 duties.

 Working directly with Quality Inspection Supervisor, Quality Lab Supervisor, and Quality department personnel.

 Maintains Quality Matrix Boards when needed.

 Is trained in the Ultra Clean process and ensures Quality personnel are following process.

 Performs Internal Audits.

 Trains internal employees to perform internal audits.

 Participates in NADCAP and third-party audits as necessary

 Hardness and Conductivity Inspection

 Reviews Prime customer specifications and writes Work Order Codes.

 Assists in Overseeing Operator Verification Procedure to ensure compliance.

 Actively participates in Root Cause and Corrective Actions.

 Ensures that all monthly testing is performed per Prime customer specifications, and all required testing is completed in the time allowed.

Other Job Duties include but are not limited to:

 Helps to implement new procedures and processes in the Quality Department.

 Actively participates in inspection functions in times of heavy workload or personnel shortages.

 Oversees training of all personnel within the department and ensures training is documented as required.

 Participates in daily disposition of non-conforming products

 Analysis and disposition of non-conforming products returned from customers.

 Oversees inspection personnel performance to ensure they are addressing all inspection requirements to customer specifications.

 Coordinates communications between inspection personnel, on-floor operators and customer service representatives, clarifying production requirements and customer purchase order requirements.

 Identifies equipment, training, and service needs and forwards them to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

 Must be able to perform the BAC 5736 Adhesion Sampling Plan and reports in absence of Inspector Lead, and reports negative trends to Quality Assurance Supervisor.

 Documents and enforces company policies.

 Maintains good housekeeping in the office and inspection areas.

 Adheres to all safety requirements, and enforces compliance.

 Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

 Handles customer-supplied product with care.

 Maintains and reinforces LMI’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations

 Manages time effectively so that production, quality and delivery schedules are met.

 Interacts professionally with co-workers and vendors, understands internal customers, and strives to maintain good relations with others.

 Responds quickly to inquiries and follows up as needed.

 Embraces change to ensure overall success of the company.


 High School diploma or High School Equivalency required, plus five years’ related experience, STEM college degree preferred (engineering, chemistry, etc.).

 Must have ability to read and comprehend American English and convert metric/English measures.

 Must have ability to read, interpret, and understand customer drawing, mylars and sketches as applicable to work being performed at LMI.

 Must become proficient in using the LMI’s Work Order Tracking Program, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and the LMI Quality System on the SharePoint site.

 Must exhibit professionalism when dealing with subordinates and superiors.

 Must exhibit ability to troubleshoot and correct problems using problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

This position will require an employee to work in both a factory and office environment. The site will contain mobility barriers with uneven ground-level and obstructed pathways. Working conditions at the job site will be indoor/outdoor with varying temperatures, and with various noise levels caused by tools, machinery, equipment, etc. The work environment characteristics described above are representative of what an employee will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
